Alpha and Omega Ministries is a multi-service ministry designed to meet needs in the community in the name of Jesus. Our desire is to demonstrate the love of Jesus in a number of ways that can be seen and felt in order to make a difference for good in our neighbor-hood.
An evening meal is served Monday through Friday at 5 P.M. These meals consist of a variety of items, as the Lord provides. The purpose is to provide a balanced nourishing meal for those who would otherwise do without. Children are welcome but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We ask for your first name and general age group (names are never published. It merely helps to avoid duplicating or missing people). We need this information for the various groups that provide food and funding.
We are able to provide a limited number of emergency food baskets to needy people who come to us with a referral from a pastor or agency. To apply for a food basket you will need a referral, a picture I.D. and a social security number. You will need to fill out a food basket request form. Please be honest with the information. Abusers may be refused service. Food basket requests are serviced as food supplies are available, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to noon.
We meet for a time of singing and Bible Study each week day evening at 9:00 A.M. & 6:00 P.M. at our church building at 821 Rose St. All are welcome to attend.
There are a limited number of opportunities for residency here at Alpha & Omega ministry. We are well aware that because of our size and staffing that we can't provide a place for everyone that has a need or a desire. We have five men's houses. At this time we have no provisions for women. To apply one needs to have been clean from drugs and alcohol for at least 30 days and have a sincere desire to stay that way. He needs to be serious about his recovery, and willing to at least be exposed to Christ centered teaching and willing to submit to a list of rules that we have found to be necessary for the program to work. Interview for Perspective residents are conducted only on Monday evenings. Those applying need to attend our evening meal at 5:00 PM, attend Bible study at 6:00 P.M., fill out an intake application and be interviewed by the Alpha and Omega council which meets after Bible Study. The decision of the council is final.
A playground is available to the children of the neighborhood from dawn to dusk. Our goal is to provide a safe pleasant place for children to play. In order to maintain this setting, children who climb on the fences and trees, who use foul language or engage in fighting will be asked to leave. Some children are asked to not come back for a period of time if their behavior warrants it.
